The Postcode Lottery Group is an international organisation with a social purpose. We set up and run lotteries to raise funds for a fairer, greener, healthier world.

Our Lotteries are defined by a unique concept players in the same neighbourhood win exciting prizes together, while raising vital funds for charities working close to home and around the globe.

Postcode Lottery players have raised over 13.5 billion since 1989 for charities such as WWF, Red Cross, UNICEF and thousands of smaller social and cultural organisations. This makes us the 3rd largest private charity donor in the world after the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Wellcome Trust*.

Every day our 1,500 team members in the Netherlands, Sweden, Great Britain, Germany and Norway work towards one goal: to create a better world.

Last year over 11 million players raised a total of 904 million. This means that every day our team raises around 2.5 million for charity partners. The Postcode Lottery Group is building a collective and international analytics hub that supports and accelerates our growth ambition and supports our worldwide charities with millions of euros every day. We work on exciting cases & solve business problems, collaborate internationally and have real and meaningful impact.

Case description

Background:

The Postcode Lottery Group currently has a substantial participant base. However, in recent months, a concerning trend has emerged - an increasing number of participants are churning (cancelling their subscription), posing a significant challenge to the organization's sustainability and community impact.

Key Question:

The Postcode Lottery Group now faces a critical question: How we they effectively prevent churn and retain our (stable) participant base?

This case presents a compelling opportunity to delve into the strategies and actions that the Postcode Lottery Group can employ to combat churn effectively, like diving into the data to see what factors may contribute to churn, creating a business case to in the end ensure the long-term sustainability of our operations and our positive impact on society.
